Meet Aaron Ford

Born from a chance encounter at a remote hut in the Karamea wilderness in 2000, Aaron Ford’s passion for fly fishing ignited into a lifelong calling. What began as a lesson from an American guide over cheese sandwiches and a Cuban cigar became a career spanning over two decades.

Since 2005, Aaron has guided full-time across New Zealand’s most pristine rivers. He’s managed fishing lodges in Alaska, Mexico, and Russia — building a reputation as one of the South Island’s most trusted, knowledgeable guides. As a proud member of the NZPFGA, Aaron now leads a team with a combined 50+ years of experience.

His philosophy is simple: every angler deserves a tailored experience, patient instruction, and deep respect for the water. Whether you’re casting a fly for the first time or chasing a trophy brown, Aaron makes every day on the river unforgettable.

What Anglers Say

We flew from Montana specifically to fish with Aaron. He found fish when no one else could. The Motueka was everything I’d ever imagined New Zealand fly fishing to be — and more.
